Salutations Fellow Photographers and admirers!
I am a street photographer enthusiast, and an aspiring photographic artist. Photography & graphic art has always been a long time hobby. Just before the beginning of 2014 I decided to take my hobby to the next level with a new blog and a new camera. ShadesOfSepia will be used as a platform for my photography & photographic art; as well as sharing photographs of any cultural events I’ve attended around NYC, photo walks, and sharing my thoughts as I go through my photographic journey. What separates my blog from other photographer sites/blogs, is that very few photographers seem to have blogs, or they don’t add content on a continuous basis; or they are not geared towards a more personal level of sharing their photographic learning experiences and thought processes with their readers. Photography by its very nature is continuous learning & continuous ideas, whether you’re a hobbyist or a big time professional. I stand by my belief that if you’re going to build a blog, you should always update it at least once every month with something, even if it’s just to say hi (people don’t visit blogs to see the same old content, let your fans know you are still interested in maintaining your blog and its content). In addition, I will be blogging about other photographers whom I find inspiring. In just about every photography school, it is said that a photo should always tell a story. NYC is such an amazing place filled with life and a gumbo of culture all around us. As a photographer, you’ll NEVER run out of things to shoot in NYC, for sure. “My Photo Walks” section will be my journeys, and “My Photographic Art” section will have art mostly derived from some photos of “My Photo Walks”.
There literally exists thousands of different genres within photography, as well as, perhaps thousands of techniques, processes and billions of creative expression (photography is more than wedding photos and fashion magazines). My photographic interest mostly reside in the area of, fine art, portrait, nature, digital, & street photography. The type of photographic techniques, and or works I’m particularly drawn to are, sepia, lomography, motion blur, infrared, B&W, and HDR, micro/macro close-ups with crisp apertures. Although I am very diverse when it comes to photography, much of the art I create are inspired in some way by my affinity with traditional art, and rare classic films. I also love to take public domain imagery and turn them in to new art. I love to combine various techniques to create beautiful and unique works of art.
This is MY own interpretation of how I see art & photography. You do things your way, I’ll do things my way. There is no such thing as a “singular best way” of doing anything; we all have different eyes. What works for you, will not always work for the other. Beautify is in the eyes of the beholder, it is what self-expression is all about. Having “the best” or “phenomenal” hardware, and great lighting, expensive flashes is fine, but in the end it still boils down to the individual photographer, their creativity, and THEIR vision NOT yours! Please bookmark my site. You will not find me on too many “photographer specific” social media sites, because it’s quite hard to be seen with literally millions of artist all aggregating on the same sites. I think it’s better to build my own site, have 100% control of my own content, and not have to worry about working so hard to compete with other artist to be seen.
If you would like to contact me, please send a message through twitter. In fact, while you’re at it, take a moment to follow me too for my blog updates.
